Hurstville: solar + ~33.6kWh Fox ESS battery storage

The brief

This Hurstville household wanted to get the most out of their solar — storing a full day's generation to run the home through the expensive evening peak, with backup for when the grid goes down.

What we installed

We installed 20 LONGi panels paired with a Fox ESS hybrid inverter and a large Fox ESS battery stack — seven EQ4800 modules for around 33.6 kWh of usable storage. With that much capacity, almost all the solar generated is stored and used on-site rather than exported, and the battery carries the home through the evening and into a blackout.

The result

• Storage: ≈ 33.6 kWh — stores a full day of solar for the evening
• Self-consumption: Most generation used on-site instead of exported cheaply
• Evening peak: Cheap daytime solar shifted into the expensive evening peak
• Backup: Battery keeps essential circuits running in a blackout
