Warranty & Consumer Guarantees

Three layers of protection on every system we install.

Last updated: 28 June 2026

When you choose Solterra Electrical, your system is protected by three layers of cover: our workmanship warranty, the manufacturers' product warranties, and your guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law. As a NETCC Approved Seller, we also comply with the New Energy Tech Consumer Code.

1. Our workmanship warranty

Solterra provides a 10-year workmanship warranty on our installation work. We warrant that the installation will be carried out to Australian Standards and that the system (including workmanship) will be fit for purpose and free of installation defects. The exact warranty terms applicable to your system are set out in your installation contract, which prevails if there is any inconsistency.

2. Manufacturer product warranties

The products we install carry their own manufacturer warranties, which we pass on to you in full:

  • Tier-1 solar panels: typically up to 25-year performance warranties
  • Inverters and batteries: manufacturer warranties that vary by brand and model (e.g. Tesla, Sigenergy, Sungrow, Fronius, GoodWe)

We provide the relevant warranty documents on completion of your installation.

3. Australian Consumer Law guarantees

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. These guarantees are in addition to — and not replaced by — our workmanship warranty or any manufacturer's warranty.

How to make a claim

If something isn't right, contact us by phone or email with your details and a description of the issue. We will address valid claims under our warranty or the Australian Consumer Law by repair or replacement within a reasonable timeframe.

What isn't covered

Our workmanship warranty does not cover faults or defects that:

  • are not notified to us within the warranty period
  • arise from acts or omissions of someone other than Solterra or our subcontractors
  • result from an extreme weather event the system is not designed to withstand
  • result from misuse, abuse, neglect, lack of maintenance, or repair/modification/relocation by anyone not approved by us in writing

Complaints

If you have a complaint, please contact us first — we follow a structured complaints process and aim to acknowledge and resolve issues promptly. If you are not satisfied, you can contact NSW Fair Trading on 13 32 20, or the relevant consumer-affairs body in your state.
